Chemical Engineers needed for a greener built environment!

I found this interesting article in the most recent issue (March 2012) of Chemical Engineering Progress. It highlights the need for engineers (especially chemical engineers) to be involved in the built environment. Chemical Engineers “are familiar with the unit operations of importance to energy consumption in buildings – heating, ventilation, and air conditioning.” Chemical Engineers streamline processes when retrofitting a chemical plant to minimize energy consumption. The same principles are applicable to designing or retrofitting a building to achieve LEED certification status.
