Acrymax fluoropolymer coatings are formulated using Kynar Aquatec® PVDF latexes. These waterborne polymer dispersions allow for the formulation of coatings with exceptional performance properties. The backbone of these polymers is the incredibly strong carbon-fluorine (C-F) bond. This bond is one of the strongest known, it provides the basis for unmatched weatherability and protection against extreme environmental conditions.
Waterborne fluoropolymer coatings represent a quantum leap forward in high performance field applied coatings that meet VOC regulations.
Sustainability
Effective strategies for sustainability initiatives require a holistic approach. In addition to the benefits of low VOC formulations that Acrymax fluoropolymer coatings offer they also offer exceptional long-term performance. Creating products that are durable and longer lasting are important elements of sustainable product design.

A Tale of Two Coatings
Acrymax offers two standard waterborne fluoropolymer coatings with distinct differences. Both of these coatings are designed to be field applied to provide superior protection and durability, even in the harshest of environments.
- AF-5500 is an innovative hybrid coating that utilizes Kynar Aquatec® resin technology. It is engineered to provide a highly durable and weather resistant protective coating. It is designed to effectively restore and rejuvenate weathered architectural metals.
- AF-5500 is typically applied over PC-125 DTM Primer. This primer provides rust inhibitive properties as well as exceptional adhesion to factory coated metal panels.
- AF-5500 coatings are designed to provide the same durability and high-performance characteristics of traditional Kynar 500® based coatings.
- AF-4400 is an innovative hybrid coating that is formulated with PVDF and elastomeric acrylic polymers. AF-4400 is engineered to provide a highly durable and weather resistant coating with excellent flexibility. AF-4400 combines the flexibility of an elastomeric acrylic with the superior durability of a fluoropolymer.
- AF-4400 is typically applied as a topcoat to an elastomeric coating such as Acrymax AF-130.
- AF-4400 has exceptional flexibility while maintaining fluoropolymer performance characteristics and durability. Kynar® PVDF protection has always been the go-to solution for protecting metal substrates, but now it’s even more versatile. Thanks to its flexibility, AF-4400 can be used on a wide range of non-metal substrates, including EPDM rubber, concrete, wood, and other building materials. This means that architects, engineers, and designers can now protect and enhance a broader range of structures and surfaces with the trusted durability and performance of Kynar® PVDF.
